UNITY PARK

Awarded a new community park in Dorchester, G2 Collaborative has been working to realize a plan that was begun through early community design and fundraising efforts by the BSA and BSLA to create a new park for the Lena Park Community Development Corporation. Taking up the reins, we have jumped into design, continued community design effort, and programming with the Lena Park Youth Council and the LPCDC members to create a place for the community to come together. This small, 5,000 square foot site will be transformed to include at the lower level, a plaza which will include seating, planters for small urban agriculture, and a place for water play. Transitioning up four feet to the back of the site allows for a more protected area for children to play on turf mounds and a slide, offers vertical play in mirrors, prisms, and sound play, provides a stage for announcements, performance and movie viewing, as well as a quiet grove that offers a place of retreat from the noise of Blue Hill Avenue. Named Unity Park. This will be a multi-generational park that will bring together the Lena Park community.
