MANCHESTER BY THE SEA RESIDENCE
On a dramatic coastal site perched fifty feet above the sea on ledge, this new residence was designed to take advantage of the site’s many natural assets. The design sited the house between two spaces with different character, both dominated by picturesque rock outcroppings. The protected south side of the house has a terrace with a close view of the spine of the main rock outcropping that runs through the site. The north side of the house has lawn that opens up to views of a secluded cove and the rocky coastline. Three existing plant associations found on site, the native oak association, the seaside association, and the rock outcropping association were featured in the new design and enhanced by additional plantings.
