ROCKEFELLER STONE BARNS CENTER FOR FOOD & AGRICULTURE

In Westchester County, NY, Stone Barns occupies an 80-acre site of historic farmland. The 1930's barn complex has been renovated to create the Stone Barns Center for Food and Agriculture, with a focus on production of food for a restaurant on site. Design work included a new entrance and roadway system and creation of exterior spaces for demonstration of crops, an herb garden for a restaurant, and a large multi-purpose courtyard. The design team strived to protect the vital farm vernacular that is a part of the site's history while adapting the farm to twenty-first century uses.
