LANGLEY ROAD
The Langley Terrace apartment complex in Newton Center provides a housing complex with new, vibrant, outdoor spaces for tenants. Low site walls fronting Langley Road provide seating opportunities off of the sidewalk, create an edge along a new rain garden for the main apartment building, and lead people to a series of terraces that step down to the main building's entry. A center courtyard was designed to unify the buildings, old and new, around an open space. Access from three buildings spills out onto this courtyard surrounded by planting. Benches invite passive use under a canopy of trees and an open terrace allow space for children to play.
